CYTAB selection tool
Select the application and the main technical requirements. The configurator highlights a suitable CYTAB unit and shows the core technical data.
CYTEC develops and manufactures self-locking clamping systems for car body construction that grip, center and lock vehicle frames with high repeatability – from robot framing to high-force multiframing and zero-point clamping.
In modern automotive production, clamping systems for car body construction have to combine speed, precision and operational safety. CYTAB units are designed for single, multi and robot framing as well as for press-line gripper bars and swivel bridges. Because the clamping force is held mechanically, the unit stays locked even if the air pressure is switched off – a key requirement for failsafe behaviour during an emergency stop.
Each clamping system combines the complete sequence of gripping, centering and locking in a single, reproducible cycle. A short cone with planar surface shouldering defines the datum point, while conus, segment and cylinder counter flanges position the frame in the X, Y and Z axes. The positive locking creates a mechanically stable interface with repeat accuracy in the hundredth-millimetre range.
The CYTAB family scales from compact robot-framing units up to high-force multiframing and zero-point clamping. This lets you standardise on one proven interface across an entire line and still match the holding force, lateral force and stroke requirements of each station. Use the filters in the configurator to compare units by holding force, lateral force and repeat accuracy, then export a preliminary order list for your enquiry.
Beyond car body construction, the same self-locking principle is applied in general mechanical engineering – for the automatic exchange of spindles and machining heads, zero-point clamping systems, mould locking on forming dies and tool clamping. Well-known vehicle manufacturers rely on CYTAB clamping systems for car body construction to support safe, flexible and cost-efficient production.
Clamping force is held mechanically – the unit stays locked without continuous air pressure.
Holding forces up to 40 kN cover robot framing to high-force multiframing.
Positive locking delivers repeat accuracy in the hundredth-millimetre range.
Integrated sensors signal released, clamped and error states with digital outputs.
